Financials Tell A Story
Some people read "The Wizard of Oz" and see a story of a little girl trying to find her way home in a strange world. Others read the story, and see the tones and colors of a national debate on the Gold Standard.
The presentation of financial statements also tell a story. Sometimes it's just a simple story about the girl going home. On other occassions, the bricks on the road actually mean something else, and you need to understand how that road was constructed in order to determine whether it was built on a solid foundation, or whether that foundation will rapidly crumble under a little stress.
That's what we do: Carefully examine the foundation of the financials to determine patterns and whether the "story" matches the market valuation of the shares.

Experience
Our cumulative years of experience have been gained working in the investment community on both sides of "Wall Street", on "Bay Street" (Canada), as well as on "Main St." as CFOs.
In the early 1980s, stagflation (high unemployment and high inflation) was pervasive in the US and Canada. Our staff worked on the large econometric model of the Canadian economy and we were members of the teams that were tracking and defining monetary policy to crush inflation and set in motion the enormous economic expansion of that period.
Following the Savings and Loan failures in the late 1980s, and the creation of the Resolution Trust Corp., we were commissioned to develop an innovative econometric investment model of the Canadian and US commercial real estate sectors. Our task was to define an investment methodology to systematically identify markets allowing our teams to purchase and sell commercial real estate. This model and methodology was fundamental to winning committments from University endowments and pension funds to allocate several billion dollars for commercial real estate investments.
Our staff has been ranked "First" for Quality of Research (in the Technology Sector) in the survey of institutional investors conducted by an independent firm.
Finally, our staff have extensive start-up company experience, and completely understand every facet of the "Strum and Drang" involved in building a business.
